We often get asked why we do what we do. Why do we raise money? Why do we work long hours for backpacks, school lunches and winter coats? Why do we care so much?
The answer is simple… Because we’ve been there.
Many of us at Hungry Hearts know exactly what it feels like to be one of the kids – hungry at lunch, without the right clothes for the season, sitting in class trying to focus while carrying the weight of worries a child shouldn’t have to carry. We’re not doing this out of sympathy. We’re doing it out of understanding. Out of love. And out of a deep sense of responsibility.
Because we see ourselves in these kids. And more importantly, we see our future in these kids.
They are tomorrow’s leaders, tomorrow’s workforce, tomorrow’s parents and neighbors and community builders. But before they can grow into these roles, they need support today. They need full stomachs, warm coats, safe places to play and the tools to learn and dream big!
